1) Choose your keywords (the words or phrases that you would like people to be able to find your site with if they search it, like car covers for a site that sells automobile covers)

2) Use these words in your page file names, so if you have a page with car covers for Ford vehicles, name your page ford-car-covers.html

3) Be sure the section of each page has unique Title (no longer than 60 characters), Meta Descriptions (no longer than 155 characters – this will likely show as the description to your site in search engine results) and Keywords (no more than 10 words or phrases separated by commas) that relate to the specific page.

Your homepage Title & Meta information would be a summary of the entire site, such as:

Jays Covers | Custom Car Covers | Ford Car Covers

4) Include each page’s important keywords in

and bold tags.

5) Create a sitemap for your website and submit it to the main search engines once your site is ready by creating webmaster tools accounts on Google, Yahoo, Bing.

6) Bookmark your site on Delicious and mention the exact URL in a message on Twitter.

Before you do anything you should create lists of keywords and phrases. The cornerstone of any successful search engine optimization is to find keywords and phrases that people are searching for.

You need to find phrases that are popular search terms and dont have a lot of competition. The quickest way to do this by far is to use a keyword tool of some kind (See source url).

You then need to build the page around these phrases you found and put the phrase in your title tag, description tag, once in an H1 tag, once in an H2 tag and crammed into your content at about 4%. Try and put it into a link anchor text somewhere as well.

Get as many incoming links as you can, placing your phrase in the anchor text.

Its all about picking the right keywords in the first place.

I would suggest you to setup a proper title, keyword and descirption by selecting right keywords from suggestion tool offered by google and wordtracker, then ensure you have few landing page about your product/services. This would boost your web presence.
