Avoid Common Linking Mistakes

Images can be useful to make clickable, but one has to be careful about setting the alt tags for the photo as well.  The alt tags or photo description should also include keywords.  This is a bit more complex, so it may well serve the web operator to just set a link using the exact text or phrase that includes the page keywords.

Avoiding simple linking mistakes makes a huge difference!  Remember that page links and anchor text verbally describe the content of the pag.  As such, they should always include keywords.

Combining the geographic identifier with the keyword phrase then creates a local keyword phrase.  This might look something like “Marketing Companies in Denver” or simply Marketing Denver.  This technique then allows a smaller company to pursue relevant internet within a local niche. 

Of course pursuing local traffic won’t pull in gobs of national viewers, but this technique can help get a new enterprise off the ground.  Besides, what good is it to be the number one result for a phrase like “Aluminum Siding” if the company only provides service in Dallas?  In the end, focusing on local search terms is a highly effective way to market new and small business via the internet.
